Gorgoroth is a name synonomous with evil. Forming in the early ninties, they arrive in 2003 with their sixth full-length release Twilight of the Idols. Anyone that listens to black metal can tell you these guys help keep the definition of "True Norwegian Black Metal" alive and well.
From the start, these Norwegians bombard you with blast beasts, chilling screams and harsh raw guitars. "Procreating Satan" will leave you left in the wake of a fiery hell as Gorgoroth blazes along on their evil path leading into such heavier tracks such as "Forces of Satan Storms". Showing elements of brutality, akin to the sound found in Marduk's brand of black metal, Gorgoroth is a band you can trust if you're in the mood for some rough, raw music, that's still not afraid to kick you in the teeth. Unlike most of their peers in the early Norwegian black metal scene (except Darkthrone), Gorgoroth has maintained the sound that made them so popular in the first place. Infernus conjoures dark guitar riffs, falling between mid and fast pace, sometimes with some brute chunk to them, but always maintaining that raw black metal feel. Gaahl's vokills are by far some of the best you will come across in the world of true black metal. With an extreme rasp to them, they are the epitimy of all that is grim.
The production on Twilight of the Idols is as most should have guessed, raw and fuzzy. It's hardly untolerable. If you dig grim black metal, this should suit you just fine. This is probably one of the better true black metal releases I've come across this year, I enjoy it much more then Darkthrone's latest effort. Twilight of the Idols is only further affirmation of way Gorgoroth is still around today, because they know what they're doing when it comes to creating an album that makes you want to head off to the forest with corpse paint and a battle axe.

Thems is some crazy music. Just heard "Procreating Satan" of a sample disc, it was pretty crazy stuff. Kinda sounds like Leviathan to me, voice wise, with the distortion of teh vocals. Cool riffs though.

First of all, "right okay" is never the right way to start anything, even in everyday conversation. Secondly, I had already admitted that my knowing the line from Three Musketeers was pathetic by saying that I was 20 when I used to watch it. I also wrote in plain English that the movie was shitty, making your "quip" about it completely ludicrous. (Using the word "immensly" is always gay, not just because it might remind complete losers about a shitty Disney movie.) Also, you spelled "Musketeers" wrong. "...it's nice to see you haven't decided to go into the ranks of higher education." You also misused "however". Furthermore, while you "never said anything about propagating evil", the images of your fellow HBM brothers does just that. Only instead of looking evil, you guys just look laughable. I'm going to give you guys a few more hits by telling everyone that I know to "check out the absolute dipshit fucking jokes on www.hyperblastmetal.com. I bet that you guys have at least 7 circle jerks a day just looking at Sect's picture. I know I did! Those are some shpadoinkal gauntlets! He looks like the Blank from Dick Tracy in Everquest form. I also find it funny that in addition to your reviews, pictures, and overall web design being shitty, I see that I could probably kick the shit out of your entire team all by myself. All of you at once! Finally, "it's shameless, and it's not funny" is what you meant to say in your second sentence, because, yeah, it's not funny. Well, maybe you're just not funny. That's probably it. P.S. You also wrote "mindless and unintelligent" in one of your sentences, which my English teacher would consider redundant. You continued repetition by writing "intellectually" like 5 words after "unintelligent". Bravo on your level of stupidity and lack of vocabulary! P.P.S. Me, Sect, Vidar, and Erus Inferni all DVDA'ed your mom last night. (Double Vaginal, Double Anal because you wouldn't get the reference. People who take pictures of themselves wearing camo with their shoe tongues showing don't know what DVDA means.) After we pulled out, we all shot into a dixie cup, and your mom drank it before Vidar could.

"This is the last of the bootlegs printed on Tragic Empire Records and this one is definitely the best buy out of the others. This one actually has the lyrics printed within it and has the most bonus tracks. Not to mention this is the best Mütiilation album out of all of them in my opinion. Except it definitely has the stupidest album cover. Why is he in a wheel chair? I’ve definitely seen pictures of Meyhna’ch standing up, so I know he’s not disabled. Unless he’s implying that when you are grimly reborn you can’t use your legs so you need to be in a wheel chair. I don’t know, whatever the reason, it’s a terrible cover concept, especially for such a good album musically." ------------------- I don't even know where to begin.

Right okay, never said anything about propagating evil. Secondly, yes it's shameless...but on the other hand it's funny. For those who know about the scene at least it's quite hilarious. Though, as of late, regardless of the spelling mistakes on this site, I find the inaccuracy of the subject far more annoying. The point was to emphasize that we take the genre more seriously than you, I don't expect you retards to fully understand it since based on the reactions here from your wicked cool friends they know less than even the writers of this site about it. The Three Muskateers? Dude, I think I saw that when I was like 10... the fact that you remember that is just sad...and gay. However, I'm not going to perpetuate the mindless and unintellgent mom jokes that you seem to think are so intellectually funny... it's nice to see you haven't decided to go into the ranks of higher education.

So I visited Hyperblastmetal.com and am left with one question. Does Sect wear those badass gloves when typing reviews? Those are fuckin' badass! And that evil pose! I tremble in fear! Seriously, bashing reviews on other websites is neither good advertisement, nor does it lend credibility to your site. Its shameless, and not particularly evil. Grow up.

Oh, and you made another mistake in your second post. You misspelled "pointing". You also placed a comma after Chuck when only a semicolon is powerful enough to separate two complete thoughts without a conjunction while maintaining a single sentence. Didn't you say that you wrote reviews? Oh, and you're so evil, let me tell you. Evil as fuck, derp! I think I'll avoid your site while davefons caresses your incredibly small johnson and tells you how dark and black you and your fellow HBM sackfaces are. By the way, your mom gets so wet you wouldn't believe it. Last night, I came in her hair; she loved it!

Why did you enjoy the incorrect album cover "immensly"? I'm just wondering. The last time I heard immensly used in such irritating fashion was in "The Three Musketeers". Not the classic, the newer, shittier one with Charlie Sheen and Oliver Platt. The stupid bitch that D'Artanian ends up boning says it after he jumps her bodyguards. I used to watch it every day when I was young, and by young, I mean 20. Oh yeah, www.hyperblastmetal.com is a fantastic site. I've never seen such album cover precision!!!

That's a nice incorrect cover for this album you have posted here. I enjoyed it immensly. Secondly since incquiring minds want to know "Twilight of the Idols" is something taken from Nietzsche. I also like your trendy spelling of "Vocals," that was real indicative of your age. I also recommend you proof read your reviews, or maybe type them in Microsoft Word to catch errors. And to Erk, if by scattered idiots you mean large following then you're right. I mean, why else would their concert in San Salvadore sell out and insue riots when people couldn't get in. That's right... this band has no following at all. And Ryan... news for you buddy, they haven't maintained their so called "true" sound throughout every album. Apparently you've never listened to "Incipit Satan," where they experimented and had a great degree of variation... I recommend you listen to an entire discography first. Secondly the production on this album is far superior than say the production found on "Antichrist." Accurate assessments and avoidance of trendy mistakes like "vokills" can be found at www.hyperblastmetal.com.

gorgoroth is really good...i love grim black metal..however if your definition of black metal is cof or dborgir..and you are under say 18 you may not appreciate the relativaly simple and raw evil that is being conveyed..in mainstream terms gorgoroth would be black flag of black metal and dimmu the offspring of black metal ..just wanted to put a perspective on it for newbies

The latest Darkthrone album is so much better than this Gorgoroth offering. I'm not saying this new album is bad, I enhoy their previous efforts much more. For bm releases this year, I find albums by Marduk, 1349, Koldbrann, and Wyrd are better.

This band just does not go away. They feel they need to keep releasing albums that suck from start to finish. Why, you ask? It's because there are some scattered idiots out there that praise them as one of black metal's finest. This is hardly the case though, as one listen to their music will have you wanting to throw their CD in the trash. A shitty black metal band for people with low musical standards.

I'm wondering the same thing Lee is. So far Carpathian Forest's Defending the Throne of evil is one of the best releases of the year. It seems no black metal has come close to it in quite a while except Marduk's newest album.
