San Antonio’s Intestinal Disgorge, a misogynistic gore/porn grind band also sharing members with BM outfit Hordes of the Morning Star, have followed last year’s Humiliated EP with an impressive yet naturally divisive long-player. Enter Vagina: a 63-track, 35-minute opus of fast, rough ‘n tumble grindcore that is laced with soundclips and coated with a sick sense of humor. Though there’s unbridled skill on display here, those moments are few and far between due to the overabundance of tomfoolery and Intestinal Disgorge’s proclivity for brevity. In fact, while the latter is a hallmark of the style, only four of the 63 stretch past the one-minute mark.
Still, Vagina is appealing because it’s oftentimes hilarious, albeit in a demented, twisted sort of way. Song titles like “Bi-Curious George,” “Eating John Stamos’ Pussy,” “I Have Been Told You Have a Nice Ass,” “Fuck Oprah,” “Women – The Other Worthless Meat,” and “I Like My Women Like I Like My Eggs – Beaten” are genuinely funny, even if you feel sleazy for laughing. Similarly, there are several lyrical gems that warrant attention:
“Scrotal Skin Ski Mask”
I wore his ball sac like a ski mask and robbed a gas station at gunpoint
“I Will Kill Every Motherfucker in This Place”
Bitch I don’t care if it’s noon and you’re at work / I need my cock sucked so fucking clock out before you get knocked out / Mind your own business faggot, this is my fucking bitch / I’ll fucking kill you and everyone else
“I’m Going to Fuck Your Kid”
I broke into their house around one a.m. armed with a cock and a shotgun / I blasted that bitch’s husband while he slept, his whole torso flew open / She woke up with blood and skin all over her sheets, scraps of tissue and bone / This song has nothing to do with fucking kids by the way / But I blasted jism all over that crying little bitch

As far as quality grind goes, songs like “Bitch I’m Drunk,” “Bea Arthur Porn Party,” “Basement Sex Slave,” “Bloated Strangled Corpse,” “Unregistered Sex Offender,” “Cokewhore Concubine,” “College Pussy,” and many others are short, short glimpses into the unforgettable nature of Intestinal Disgorge. And the inclusion of many different kinds of vocalizations – “screams, bitch screams, gurgles, roars, chokes, sobs, growls, howls, shrieks, gags, shouts, yells” – makes Vagina a dissonant, unwieldy beast.
What it boils down to, however, is that there are too many soundclips and not enough substantial grinders. In the future, I’d like to see these guys capitalize on the “less is more” adage concerning the soundclips, and the “more is more” adage regarding the grindcore. Nevertheless, Vagina is a good effort, but yeah, Cunt was taken.
