I'm almost afraid to write how I really feel about Seventh Star due to their obvious toughguy/jock mentality they have going on. Then I realize it's my job to triumph in the face of adversity, no matter how poorly it may be executed, and how girthy their tattooed biceps may be. Sometimes I feel bad about secretly wishing bands would break up. Well, to put it this way, I don't feel bad about publically wishing that Seventh Star would disband entirely.

More Christian metalcore with a singer that sounds like he has a mouth full of beef and thick yet plodding moshy riffs. With a style that's so reliant on having bounce and proper rhythm, they continually fall short in that department with disjointed delivery. Just listen to "Resistance To Resistance" if you don't believe me. Even the stellar talents of Kurt Ballou (Converge) on production are unable to resolve this dangerously tiresome sound. As a friend pointed out, the only time this style was really acceptable was when it had talent and happened six years ago when it was called No Innocent Victim. Never could I imagine being so bored and almost convinced into falling sleeping from a band with distorted guitar and gruff vocals. This is the music I'd imagine escaped gorillas would make after being exposed to some sort of special gas that destroys the area of the brain responsible for "good taste". I actually unwillingly scoffed during parts of "Your Pleasure, My Pain".

I'm not trying to burn any bridges or start anything, but I'm starting to get really dismayed with Facedown Records. If bands like Bloody Sunday, Bloodlined Calligraphy, Seventh Star, and Alove For Enemies are at the level of quality they strive for in their signings, they ought to be out looking for second jobs immediately. It's days like this when I wish I had more thumbs, so that I may point them in a downward direction.

This is a great album, even though the singer is horrible.

Damn, i just came across this review and it's terrible. It doesn't explain any of the tracks and highlights of the album at all. I don't listen to a lot of Hardcore these days, but this is a damn fine Hardcore album. One of the best for 2005 and one of the only ones i continuelly spin. It's also one of the heaviest i've heard Seriously, did you even listen to half the songs on this album? Yeah, there are a few that are filler that i could skip, but "Feverish", "Brood of Vipers", "The Seventh Star", "Resistance to Resistance", "My 96th Thesis", and "First Rains" are all great songs. I also have no idea where you hear sloppiness in the musicianship, because they seem pretty tight to me. So yeah, there's my rant... everybody listen to the songs "Brood of Vipers" and "My 96th Thesis", turn the volume up, and prepared to be knocked off your feet. This deserves AT LEAST a 5/3.5/4

Wow, this is seriously one of the most stupid reviews i've read about any album in a long time. They should start doing reviews on reviewers. This is hilarious.

Yeah, NIV was pretty good. For a hardcore band. The rest of this stuff is just crap. Facedown has only released a few good records, including Silence The Epilogue, Symphony In Peril, and licensing the Immortal Souls albums for the USA.
