These grind/noise veterans have been around for a decade and have released full-lengths entitled Drowned in Rectal Sludge, Whore Splattered Walls, and A Cockwork Whore Binge, but their most recent offering seems to be a collector’s treat mainly for fanatics, as it’s limited, hand-numbered, and features special packaging. Seeing as there are only 200 copies of Humiliated available for purchase, I’m not sure exactly how much press Texas’s Intestinal Disgorge actually need before their latest EP sells out. Oh well – here we go.

ID have a pretty firm grip on their semi-unique style of grind, which is coated in noise and general experimentalism at times. Of course, the songs are brief and relayed at breakneck speed, while the production is meaty without being too low-grade or high-grade. The 16 tracks are all decent, but some of you will undoubtedly dislike the primitive, high-pitched screams that litter much of this record. Because they are inserted so frequently – without an ostensible point since numerous other vocal styles abound – they become irritating very quickly. I find it funny, though, that I don’t know whether to laugh or cringe at song titles like “Slurping up Rancid Phlegm,” “Nursing Home Scat Party,” “Molesting Her Swollen Corpse,” and so on.

Otherwise, besides the missteps, Humiliated is merely a solid grind EP that’s not quite up to par with what bigger dogs have been releasing on labels such as Relapse, Selfmadegod, and others. Intestinal Disgorge don’t necessarily disappoint, nor do they impress, but they sure are interesting to listen to. Sometimes that’s enough. Sometimes it’s not.

new album vagina has 64 tracks in 33 minutes, theres so much filler but the few tracks that are lucky enough to make it over the 30 second mark (intros included) are quite good

This band has come along way since they started out. With the last few releases they have been getting better and better! I'm very excited to hear the rest of this ep!

Link correction: Remove the very last forward slash ( / ) in the links to get to the listed MySpace address. @ Kevin: I don't know about that. With recent releases from Fuck the Facts and Gadget and the promise of new ones from Coldworker and Antigama next year, Relapse is still a safe bet as far as grind is concerned, I think. One can't overlook Nasum, Pig Destroyer, and Phobia either. Someone posted a comment on Intestinal Disgorge's MySpace about Relapse being "Hot Topic grind," but I really can't agree with that statement even if that label is big and their acts are more accessible, per se, than others'. For truely exceptional and experimental grind, Scald's "Headworm" must not be missed. "Humiliated" is differently cool, but it didn't exactly wow me nor satisfy my tastes.

Labels such as relapse don't even know what grind is anymore, so I wouldn't say this new IxDx stuff isn't up to par. I can't wait to hear it.
