Emo should be called something like "pop"-core. That would be a more suitable title for bands like this that try to keep things hardcore with the screaming, but than revert back to the cleaning so quickly. I've said it before and I'll say it again, like punk, the hardcore scene is quickly becoming watered down garbage with so many bands whining about how their girlfriends left them or their parents didn't hug them enough. Maybe if I was a pissed-off 13 year old I would think this is the best thing since sliced bread, but unfortunately I'm not.

Now don't get me wrong, I like hardcore music for the most part, but there are just so many trendy bands that are diluting this once proud genre. Granted A Static Lullaby has some decent musicianship, and songs are put together rather well, I just really don't enjoy And Don't Forget to Breathe. The music tends to be more rooted in the punk side of the hardcore spectrum with very up beat riffing based mostly around power chords and guitars that are never too distorted. The vokills are mostly based around the clean singing with some hardcore screaming thrown in. Nothing on here really grabs my attention. The drums are rather bland, and I can't say I'm too big a fan of the vokills either. There is the occasional guitar riff that I do enjoy, but nothing I can get too excited about.

For me this is the type of release that's easily forgettable. Not one song on here is really memorable for me. Although this is some of the better emo stuff I've heard, it still comes across as rather generic. My recommendation is if you're a pissed-off 13 year old, you'll dig this, or if you're really into emo. For anybody else I would say don't even bother.
